Executive Director Jerry Southworth

From November 1969 until his retirement in July 1997, Jerry Southworth served as a Special Agent with the FBI. Jerry held several investigative and management positions with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, at various locations throughout the United States. In addition to his investigative and management duties, Jerry assisted in the development of the original FBI profiling program and the first formal FBI ethics-training program for FBI employees.

Jerry also acted as an instructor for the FBI throughout most of his career, offering training in various law enforcement disciplines. The Wisconsin Department of Justice also certified Jerry as an instructor in numerous law enforcement subjects.

After his retirement from the FBI, Jerry was the manager of a college law enforcement training program and in that capacity was responsible for development and presentation of specialized, professional development and in-service training programs for law enforcement officers and managers.

Jerry graduated from Michigan State University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics / Education.

Jerry has served on numerous committees and was associated with several organizations dedicated to the betterment of the law enforcement profession.

Throughout his career, Jerry acted as a consultant to law enforcement agencies investigating sexually related crimes including homicide. In that capacity, he provided offender profiles as well as investigative and interview advice.

Jerry was employed as a police officer prior to his career with the FBI, and comes from a family with an extensive law enforcement background. His father served with the Michigan State Police and later became a sheriff. Both of his brothers were law enforcement officers. One of his sons is a city police officer. Jerry's nephew and his wife are also city police officers.
